Specifically, motor vehicle accidents are the number one cause of death.

The program seeks to impact the community by using a combination of coordinated primary prevention activities and population-based strategies, such as increasing the availability of trained professionals and resources. Primary activities are coordinated with the River Cities Safe Kids Coalition and Operation Baby Buckle and include Bicycle Rodeos, bicycle helmet distribution, child safety seat checks and car seat distribution. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Child Passenger Safety Certification Course is hosted bi-annually, and results in an additional 40 Certified CPS technicians to teach and enforce child passenger safety in their communities.
